Mountain Justice began as a cry for Direct Action and Civil-Disobedience to immediately end the tragedy of Mountaintop Removal and Strip Mining in Appalachia. Since 2005, we have organized and participated in public actions from Tennessee to New York, West Virginia to Missouri, Kentucky to Alabama and many places besides. These actions can be as simple as small demonstrations or as complex as Tree-Sits.

Today, MTR continues, and the need for action has never been greater. We ask you to stand with us in defense of the Land, People, and Sustainable Future of Appalachia. As long as your action conforms to our non-violence policy and strives to meet the goals of Mountain Justice, we will do everything we can to support your autonomous actions.
